UPCOMING FASHION TRENDS THAT YOU SHOULD WATCH OUT FOR

1. Leather jackets
Are you even a fashionista if you don't have a piece in your closet? Leather jackets have overtime grown into an admirable piece for non casual events and generally fashion. You can't step out into a busy street and fail to notice a variety.

2. Cropped denim jackets
With denim proving to be a fashion sense that came to stay, cropped denim jackets have surely proved to be a beautiful part of the trend. The jackets are high cut with variety of styles that are mostly appealing in the street fashion and runaways.

3. Airforce sneakers
Are you even a generation Z if you don't own the pair of sneakers? Airforce sneakers come in all sizes and different colors ranging from black, white and mixed pattern and art. The good thing about the sneakers is that they can be styled by any type of clothing ranging from casual to officials. A good pair of Airforce can even be worn with a suit, how beautiful?

4. Strappy heels
While generally almost all types of heels have proven to be stylish and feminine, strappy heels just seem to have understood the assignment. The heels come in different colors and heel shape that can pretty much accommodate any types of legs.

The good thing about mom jeans as compared to the other pre-existent jeans is that it accommodates all body types including the pair body that is pretty hard to dress

MOI UNIVERSITY FASHION MODEL SHOCKS PEOPLE BY DRESSING IN CONDOM MADE ATTIRE

Y'all think you've met crazy until you are part of fashion. 21 year old fashion enthusiast and student of Moi University took to the streets to showcase her dress made of Sure condoms. This followed a two weeks planning of a Fashion event branded Mr and Miss Abstinence. On the day of the event after doing her hair and make up, Maureen says to have gotten a call from one of the organizers of the event claiming that the modelling part had been scrapped off. Instead of getting mad and protesting the whole day like any girl would do, the student of Education Literature took it to the streets of Moi University market center(stage) dressed in her creative wear catching the attention of students, staff and villagers who were present in the market center. On her defense for the attention seeking behaviour, she said her creativity cannot go in vain so she better showcase it as planned before. This was an initiative to support the campaign which she was indirectly and unintentionally blocked from participating in. She urged all students to promote abstinence in campus and avoid misleading behaviours of pre-marital sex which causes problems of early pregnancies and STIS but also sent a message to Moi University event organizers to stop failing student's expectations. Thumbs up to her or naah?

MOST ABUSED FASHIONS IN MOI UNIVERSITY

The youth fashion is mostly influenced by the "groups" they belong in,  their interests, role models and trends. Just like any other youth community, Moi University has various fashion trends. Eventhough most of them are classy and trendy,  campus students tend to abuse them. Below are the most abused fashion trends:

1. Rugged jeans

For a while, rugged jeans have been highly associated with hip-hop and the urban culture. However, students tend to abuse the fashion trend. Most ladies put on rugged jeans with crop tops which make them look trendy but there are certain things they miss out : an overly cut rugged on thick and black thighs ain't appealing at all . I'm black too and I love my black but there are certain fashion crimes that we have to avoid. Instead of overly cut ragged, stick to thin lines if you are unsure of how it will come out.

2. Box braids
Braids are trendy and well marching with any kind of face but only if it's well chosen. Well, various types of braids appeal in most faces but not for the box braids. If you have a big head or a rectangular face,  kindly stick to  normal braids. The best way to dress on box braids is to consult a beautician before settling on it.

3. Denim
We all love denim, don't we? But what happens when denim is dressed with any nyuinyui  kind of dressing? I guess it becomes boring. Stick to appealing styles when you want to match it up with denim and not just anything. Some dresscodes look better with no company.

4. Booty shorts with tight
In campus, really?! Unless you skipped the teenage stage, there's no absolute reason why you should dress that way. Maybe a first year could be excused but not someone who's been familiar with campus. That sucks.

5. Suspender
We all love seeing descent men who don't put on rugged and skinny jeans from Monday to Monday but before you settle on suspenders, ask your neighbor how you look on it . Some people try slaying on suspenders and whole time they look like tied poles, no hard feelings though.

6. Crocs
Crocs and air free, good for the feet and reluctant but putting them on while going to class is a NO! We don't wanna raise a generation which thinks putting on official with slippers is right, do we?

7. Shuggy hairstyles for men
Professionals should look descent. There's no one who's going to employ you with that hairstyle that looks like a mop. Practice decency coz that's how you get used to it.

8. Half Coats
In the 21st century? Come on!

Which fashion trend irritates you the most?

MOI UNIVERSITY WELCOMES 2019 FASHION WEEK

Fashion might be a normal thing to a lot of people but for Moi University, that's a different case. As a new week looms, it's not a normal week for students of Moi University and it's fraternity. The annual Fashion week is set to kick off on 27th of February to 29th with students exhibiting a sense and taste in fashion. The Students center, which has been a main venue for events in the institution will remain to be the venue where different models will showcase what they know about fashion. Talking to one of the main hosts of the event Betty Muzarika who also appears to be the World Miss University Africa and Miss Cultural Week 2019/2020, she said the fashion week will entail fresh art,  designs and a collaboration of art. It won't be just modeling...the modeling part will be pure high fashion but there will be a showcase of artistic works, band, spoken word... Basically things to do with art. Sounds interesting, right? The fashion gala will then be crowned with Miss and Mr Fashion 2019/2020 who will get a reward that is yet to be disclosed and a royal handing over from the current Mr and Miss Fashion Week Richard Oteba and Daisy Kadhambi respectively. Models are therein request to register through the number on the poster at no fee. However, the expectations for the models will be disclosed during the training before the major event. The event will be a collaboration of Modish Campus Vogue and BTM. Sounds a like an interesting event, right? Well, let's all participate and get to learn more on fashion and get entertained.
